Its meaning and properties

It is said that the Lapis Lazuli stone was first found in the Hindu Kush mountain located in Afghanistan; from where it was extracted and exported to the Mediterranean world and South Asia since the Neolithic age. Although some theorize that it was found in Egypt, it is believed that the only source in ancient times was Badakhshan in northeastern Afghanistan, and that the stone reached Egypt via trade routes.

For the Egyptians, the lapis lazuli stone had value and importance thanks to its own interpretation; since for them its dark blue color represented the night of the heavens and the golden sparkles of pyrite, the stars. It was a clear picture of life; the blue of the color of the water and the divinity of the blue of the sky. And that's how they began to use it in everything. The artists; painting the Nile, royalty in their clothing, pharaohs in their tombs and Cleopatra; the stone powder like blue shadows.

It was an element that was part of their culture due to their beliefs; like the presence in the soul of the goddess Isis, and even; due to the physical appearance of the stone that gives it its name. In the Middle Ages it was considered a stone to keep the limbs strong and avoid fear. He wore the French crown in inlays, on his clothing and on his objects. For a time this rock was considered “blue gold.”
