Son of the god Shiva and the goddess Parvati, Ganesh is one of the most well-known and revered deities in Hinduism, as well as the most recognized Hindu god outside of India. He has the head of an elephant with a curved trunk and large ears, and the body of a pot-bellied human with 4 arms. He is considered the god of success and wealth, the destroyer of all evils and obstacles, and is also revered as the god of education and wisdom. He is also considered the god of new beginnings and is usually invoked when starting new businesses, moving into a new house, among other endeavors.
