PHRA SOMDEJ

Phra Somdej Wat RakhangIt is considered the king of Buddha amulets. Its purpose is to bless all living beings on this planet with good karma, provide protection against negative energies, strengthen personal relationships, and bring good luck to the wearer.

Phra Somdej is one of the five “BenjaPakee” amulets. Its story begins in Thailand around the year 1800, when a very famous and powerful monk named Somdej Toh of Wat Rakhang created and enshrined what many Thais consider the most powerful amulet of all time.

Most of these amulets do not have eyes, nose or mouth. The image of Buddha seated on a three-tiered throne represents the three-world system of Buddhist cosmology. Like other Thai amulets, Phra Somdej was usually made from sacred oil, soil, pollen, shell and incense ashes, as well as the relics of important monks. The materials mixed and took shape during the consecration process in which monks at Wat Rakhang chanted mantras led by Somdej Toh.

• To clean the piece, use soapy water and gently dry it with a soft, neutral-colored cloth, removing oils and residues that may dirty it or affect its shine.
• Store the piece in its protective leather bag.

Skins:

• Leather can stretch over time; this is a natural behavior of the material and not a defect.
• Leather is sensitive to water: it can shrink, lose firmness, and change color.

Each piece is unique thanks to our artisanal process, so it may present slight variations in color or shape.

Metals:

• Avoid contact with water or with sweat/natural skin acidity, as this may dull or soil the material.
