Obverse: Bust of the emperor facing right. The portrait shows him wearing a laurel wreath with a rosette or pearl diadem. The obverse legend features variations of his name and titles, such as "DN CONSTANTIVS PF AVG" (Dominus Noster Constantius Pius Felix Augustus — "Our Lord Constantius, Pious, Fortunate, Augustus").

Reverse: "GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS" ("Glory of the Army"). The design represents two soldiers standing, facing each other, each holding a spear and shield, with one or two military standards positioned between them.

Constantius II, the second son of Constantine the Great, was Roman emperor from 337 to 361 A.D. His long reign was marked by efforts to preserve imperial unity following his father's death and the subsequent division of power among the imperial brothers. After the civil conflicts of the 340s and the deaths of his brothers Constantine II and Constans, Constantius II became the sole ruler of the Roman world in 353 A.D., restoring centralized control over the empire.
